Over a 5-day period in March 2024, COMESA Court of Justice Professional Staff participated in a Staff Development Programme at Maiyan Sarova Hotel, Nanyuki, Kenya. The Programme was facilitated by S.O.P Consulting, Experts in Organization Development and Human Resources.

The Workshop focused on enhancing essential skills for optimizing work processes and flow efficiency at the CCJ, particularly emphasizing teamwork, proper planning and execution, time management, supervisory skills, and conflict resolution.

The Facilitator, emphasized that planning is not just a task, but a mind-set critical for both short-term tasks and long-term strategies. Effective planning leads to prioritized tasks, seamless implementation, and enhanced productivity. He noted that proper planning, both at the organizational and individual levels, is crucial for successful execution, saving time, and ensuring undivided focus on critical objectives.

The session on teamwork highlighted the crucial role of collaboration in achieving organizational goals. The importance of effective communication, competent team leadership, and other qualities were underscored as fundamental to fostering a harmonious and productive team environment.

Through a mix of theory and interactive exercises, Staff gained actionable strategies to enhance their professional competencies and contribute meaningfully to the Court’s Mission and Vision of becoming a world-class Court promoting regional integration.

The Staff Development Programme served as a catalyst for personal and professional growth for the CCJ and its Staff, enhancing their confidence and competences in executing day-to-day tasks and working together to achieve organizational excellence.
