MINING MANAGER: ALLUVIAL MINING

Responsible for providing strategic, technical and operational leadership to ensure safe, efficient, compliant and profitable mining operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide overall leadership and management of the mine’s day-to-day operations.
  2. Develop and implement effective mining plans, production targets and operational strategies.
  3. Lead and optimise alluvial gold mining operations, including excavation, material handling, processing and recovery.
  4. Ensure production targets are achieved within approved budgets and timelines.
  5. Manage mining equipment, plant, machinery and other operational resources.
  6. Monitor gold recovery, production efficiency and operational costs.
  7. Develop and maintain effective mine planning, scheduling and reporting systems.
  8. Ensure strict compliance with Zimbabwean mining, environmental, health and safety regulations.
  9. Implement robust occupational health and safety standards across the operation.
  10. Lead, motivate and develop mining teams, supervisors and contractors.
  11. Manage contractors and service providers to ensure quality, productivity and cost effectiveness.
  12. Identify operational bottlenecks and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  13. Prepare regular production, operational, safety and financial reports for senior management.
  14. Maintain effective relationships with regulatory authorities, local communities and other stakeholders.
  15. Drive responsible environmental management and rehabilitation practices

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering, Mine Management or a related discipline.
  2. At least 7–10 years’ relevant mining experience, with significant experience in a mine management or senior operational role.
  3. Proven hands-on experience in gold alluvial mining is essential.
  4. Strong knowledge of alluvial mining methods, gold recovery processes and mine production systems.
  5. Experience managing mining teams, contractors and heavy mining equipment.
  6. Sound knowledge of mine health, safety and environmental requirements.
  7. Strong understanding of mining production planning, budgeting and cost control.
  8. Experience working within the Zimbabwean mining environment will be a distinct advantage.
  9. Strong leadership, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  10. Ability to work in a demanding operational environment and deliver results under pressure.
